Truth above all else

Bollywood, judge yourselves
T. R. Ramaswami feels that the indian flim industry should its own oscars , instead of chasing the american award.
There has been a debate recently about which flim should be nominated for the oscars , and now that Rang De Basanti has been selected ,the debate would probably continue.

Its ironical that someone who had long ago decided not to accept
any indian flim award , has had two flims in which he has starred, nominated for the oscars.
That aside, there are several other issues.

It is indeed a refreshing change, to see a mainstream hindi flim like Lage Raho Munnabhai that relies not on violence, as most of the flims do, but on non-violence, spreading the concept of fairness and justice.

Lage raho has succeeded in bringing back the mahatma into the minds and lives of people.

Today ,the one thing that is slowly, but surely dying ,is truth one takes recourse to lies and falsehood,as and when required , without a second thought.

Whether it is bribing government official, giving donations to secure admission to school, lying to cover up our shortcomings, We seem to have easily slipped into the lie- telling mode. And not because it is correct or brings us any long-term happiness. It only gives us a temporary reprieve.

The path of truth is hard and difficult, but a very satisfying one.
All religions preach that at the end of the road called truth, resides god. But in a world driven by personal ambition, one upmanship, greed, lust, anger, jealously, and selfishness, god and truth are often pushed to the back benches.

The results are there for all of first, why doesn’t the film industry have just one awards ceremony like the oscars ?
We have various flim awards sponsored by any number of television channels and corporates .
Normally about half a dozen films monopolise the awards and everyone is happy that a very “democratic” situation prevails.
Bollywood appears to be scared of having just one awards ceremony as several us to see.illiteracy , unemployment , a soaring crime graph, stressful, dissatisfied, empty lives , and a never- ending search for happiness.
Lage raho inspires us to stand up and have the guts to tell the truth, because in the end only truth will triumph. And nothing else really matters. Egos will be bruised it also reflects the inability to accept evaluation/ judgement bye peers.
I would think that the quality of our films will improve only when the industry institutes its own award, involvement
.
